PHILADELPHIA, May 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Memorial Day ceremonies
will be held noon on Monday, May 28 at the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans
Memorial at Front and Spruce streets, Penn's Landing.
The Memorial this year is observing the 20th anniversary of its
dedication in 1987. Ronald J. Naples, chairman and CEO of Quaker Chemical,
in Conshohocken is the featured speaker.
Naples is a graduate of West Point who served with the U.S. Army in
Vietnam during 1969-70. He also is the honorary co-chairman with
Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Ronald D. Castille of the "Duty to
Remember" Campaign launched this year to preserve and protect the Memorial
for future generations.
Serving as Master of Ceremonies is Terry A. Williamson, a Marine
veteran of Vietnam and president of the Memorial Advisory Fund, which
provides oversight with the Fairmount Park Commission of the site.
Assisting in the ceremony will be the Liberty Bell Chapter 266 of the
Vietnam Veterans of America and the Hajdack-Mokan Chapter of the 82nd
Airborne Association. The program, which follows a Memorial Day observance
at the nearby Korean War Memorial at 10 a.m., will feature the presentation
of wreaths, a bugler playing taps and a firing squad to honor the dead. The
Memorial honors the 646 Philadelphians who were lost in the Vietnam War.
