Boeing KC-767 would have Created More American Jobs Diverse News Editor's Note: The winning Contractor will build the Tanker in France: Here is a related story. And another WASHINGTON, March 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Gabriela Lemus,
executive director of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement
(LCLAA) today released the following statement criticizing the Air Force
for choosing the EADS/Northrop tanker to build the next generation aerial
refueling tankers:
"The Air Force has made the wrong decision by choosing the
EADS/Northrop plane over the U.S.-made, Boeing KC-767 aerial refueling
tanker.
"The Air Force's decision on this tanker contract would have had a
significant impact on U.S. jobs and Latino workers, especially as we face
severe contractions in the nation's economy. The Boeing KC-767 tanker would
have supported more than 44,000 American jobs in over 40 states, while
EADS/Northrop will take a large percentage of those same jobs overseas.
"The Boeing KC-767 would have been the best value choice for the
American tax payer. It is American-designed, American-developed, and
American-made. It would have ultimately resulted in more jobs from which
Latinos would have benefited."
