FLDS Scandal: Just Targeting White Christians?

PHILADELPHIA - April 17, 2008, With this recent scandal from Texas, many Americans are questioning the legitimacy of the arrests in question.

Compare and Contrast

Many forums, like on this google group site, Joe Citizens' are posing their own questions. This story does seem directed towards a particular religion and race. With the majority of the folks being arrested being White and Christian. Coming from North Philadelphia, I must say that this type of thing was not all that uncommon. I am just speaking of the polygamy, not the alleged child abuse, which is just that, at this point. Growing up in North Philly, it was quite common for folks to be just living together or 'shacked-up' several times a year, and they were Christians. The police never raided their houses. Nor has their been a raid in the community, albeit not an organized community, like the FLDS' 'Compound'. Thinking about the future lawsuit: I am not sure what the warrant read, if it was for a 'Compound' or what address or even addresses were quoted. For those in Law Enforcement, you know that a warrant must be specific. Let's just say if for each apartment (if that's how they lived) were just that, 'Apartments', then the warrant would have to read, "Apt. A, Apt. B, etc.' this for the evidence to be properly presented. If not, that would be very legally touchy, as far as evidence goes. It may have well been projects inhabited by Christians although not governmentally-funded.

The DNA evidence

The Attorney General's Office is having DNA evidence brought in to use. I am not sure if that means they will see if incest is going on or if the Elders there fathered children with underage girls, either way, this is just what it is- Teen Pregnancy. Just like in the inner city. Perhaps these types of DNA tests should be used on all teenage pregnancies where the name of the father is not disclosed.

Child Custody

So, what we have here, is teenagers getting pregnant. Children taken away from their mothers and allegations flying in the air. All from one girl making a complaint. This brings memories of the McMartin Pre-School Trials. Where the Care Givers were convicted in the media but found not-guilty (that didn't get much press).

World News

This is not getting any World Headlines, like you may think. Too many other 'cultures' in the rest of the world that approve of Polygamy, Incest and Teen Pregnancy. The Mainstream Media would not like to 'offend' those cultures.

So, compare this story if it was in another ethnic group or even in another country.
