Sheetz Family Charities "For the Kidz" Golf Classic to be held at Firestone
Country Club, May 20-21
ALTOONA, Pa., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheetz, Inc. will host the 9th
annual Sheetz Family Christmas "For the Kidz" Golf Classic at Firestone
Country Club in Akron, Ohio, May 20-21 to benefit Sheetz Family Charities.
Among other professional athletes, celebrity guests of honor include
Marshall Faulk, Jim Kelly, Jim McMahon and Eli and Archie Manning.
Sheetz Family Christmas(R) began in 1992 when employees of the
convenience store chain in Blair County, Pennsylvania, raised money to help
needy families during the holidays. The "For the Kidz" golf outing raises
money for Sheetz employees to use to buy clothing, toys and other presents
for kids at Christmastime. Sheetz employees all over the six state
operating area will host holiday parties for local kids in December.

president of marketing, Sheetz, Inc. "Every year this golf outing grows and
raises more money than the last. We now have nearly 11,000 thoughtful, hard

Additional celebrity athletes joining the cause this year include Mike
Tomczak, Al Jenkins, Andy Russell, Shane Conlan, Kent Tekulve, Jim Rooker,
Ken Macha, Al Hrabosky, and Rick Reuschel.
ESPN Sportscenter's lead golf reporter, Scott Van Pelt will also
participate in the event.
Last year, the Sheetz Family Charities program raised over $350,000 and
helped more than 3,800 needy children in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West
Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. To date, Sheetz employees have
raised more than $4.3 million for Sheetz Family Charities and helped more
than 36,000 children.
In 2005 Sheetz Family Charities formed a new partnership with another
charitable organization, the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R). Sheetz Family
Charities donated $155,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, making Sheetz the
largest single contributor to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Pennsylvania.
The money was used to grant 31 wishes for seriously ill children and their
families to visit Walt Disney World(R) in Orlando, Florida.
